On December 14, 2024, Grand Hotel Oslo by Scandic celebrated its 150th anniversary with a spectacular free concert, using the hotel's facade as a stage. Under the concept "At the Heart of the Events", the celebration paid tribute to the hotel's role as a gathering place in Oslo for 150 years.

BACKGROUND Since its opening in 1874, Grand Hotel Oslo has been an iconic landmark, known for hosting artists, intellectuals, and international authorities. To celebrate this anniversary, the hotel wanted to give something back to the city and its residents, making the occasion a spectacular experience that extended beyond the hotel's walls and into the cityscape.

OBJECTIVES Celebrate the hotel's historical significance through an experience that involved the entire city. Create an inclusive celebration where both locals and visitors could participate. Strengthen Grand Hotel's role as a vibrant meeting place – both historically and in the future.

EXECUTION Liwlig Norge was responsible for the concept development and execution of the event, which was carefully coordinated with local authorities to ensure a seamless experience. Two seven-meter-high light towers created an atmospheric backdrop around the hotel's facade, while both Karl Johans Gate and Eidsvoll Square were filled with excited Oslo residents and tourists.

Artists such as Emma Steinbakken, Amanda Delara, Ben Adams, Stine Hole Ulla, the Barratt Due Institute of Music, and Birkelunden Men's Choir performed from the hotel's balconies. The concert featured historical retrospectives and speeches highlighting Grand Hotel’s role in national and cultural events.
