FREYR’s challenge at InterSolar was to stand out among over a thousand booths in a way that was true to their identity, unique, and striking. Additionally, the booth was shared with FREYR’s Japanese production partner Nidec, requiring the solution to represent both companies equally.
The Client
FREYR is a Nordic startup in the global energy storage market with many large international players. One of the most important meeting places for this industry is the Intersolar Europe trade fair in Munich.
The Challenge
FREYR’s challenge at InterSolar was to stand out among over a thousand booths in a way that was true to their identity, unique, and striking. Additionally, the booth was shared with FREYR’s Japanese production partner Nidec, requiring the solution to represent both companies equally.
The Task
Gyro’s task was to create a showstopper booth that positioned FREYR as a new and bold industry leader while seamlessly integrating the partnership with Nidec in the design.
The Solution
FREYR, being an innovative client, required a custom-made and unique booth concept—something no one at InterSolar had seen before. The booth needed to convey FREYR’s distinctiveness and brand promise, radiate informal warmth, and integrate platforms for displaying products, value chains, two state-of-the-art gigafactories in Norway and the USA, as well as FREYR’s commitment to sustainable battery solutions.
Inspired by the Norse tree of life, Yggdrasil, Gyro developed a unifying central concept for FREYR and the collaboration with Nidec. This concept embraced the entire booth, standing out as a manifestation of both companies’ product sectors, unique cultural identities, and optimistic future vision.
From a luminous white cube in the middle of the booth, Yggdrasil’s branches spread out over the entire 320m² floor area, forming an airy treetop full of leafy bands—a living ceiling in constant motion from the air currents in the large exhibition hall. This unique design not only pushed the boundaries of the fair’s construction conditions but also created an unforgettable landmark visible from a long distance in a sea of over a thousand exhibitors, symbolizing the companies’ identities and ambitions.
Nature was the binding element that held the content-rich booth and the two companies together—while the treetop was adorned with green leaves on the Nordic side, the Japanese side was enveloped in cherry blossoms hanging from the ceiling.
